Aino, has "limited" remote playability..

I have a ps3, and i have no coding knowledge, but i've now got hours to kill and would love to help any efforts to get remote play working on the n900..

Just imagine that..

ok, it's pretty useless, but i'd still love that stuff, or at least being able to utilise it as a controller for the ps3, check on ma downloadz and such

fan?

I'm looking into controlling UPnP MediaRenderer stuff these days. So we might get this on the N900 soon.

I don't have a ps3, so help with compatibility checking would be very much appreciated.

Isn't RemotePlay their highly proprietary link between the PS3 and the PSP (and some limited functionality on some SE phones)? IIRC, it allows the remote device to connect to the PS3 and access media to be played on the mobile device.

I think that it's highly unlikely to see any support for this outside of Sony's own devices.

I could be wrong (I'll check when I get home - if I remember), but I don't think that the PS3 exposes any UPnP control points for it's renderer.

My n900's on pre-order, and my ps3's just begging for it XD

I'd be happy to test anything / provide any help i can. I've got a psp too, so I know all the semi-cool and wholly pointless things this feature would allow me to do

I've got a ps3 and N900 right now and can test anytime needed.

Yes it is, but according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Play there may be some home in reverse-engineering the protocol, although Sony have since patched it. This might end up being a cat and mouse situation.

Doesn't the PS3 speak UPnP? I always thought so.

Remote play and UPnP aren't the same thing.

UPnP = play remote video on PS3
Remote play = play remote video/certain games from PS3 on PSP

Works along the same lines as remote desktop.
