If you have error -
Code:
fring: error while loading shared libraries: libhildonmm-1.0.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
make symbolic link :
#ln -s /usr/lib/libhildonmm-1.0.so.2 /usr/lib/libhildonmm-1.0.so.1

I installed properly via N810.install in fring's site. Well, after rebooting, I can't get it to work. After selecting Fring icon, it appears "fring is starting", but nothing happens after it.

I have a N800.

Once again the N810 proves itself a great developer platform. I used to use fring on my 6620 back in the day and its a great application. The N810 with Rtcomm has pretty much all of the funtionality of Fring already but it is a nice option to have it unified in one app (skype, twitter, gtalk, sip etc).

I'm no expert (anyone who's read my posts in the past can attest), but I had no problem installing Fring.

Went to this website and clicked this install link and followed the directions.

No trouble. It loads, even after rebooting (though I don't know why that was important to do).

Maybe tonight I'll sign up for an account and play with it.

Good news! The folks from fring just announced today that the first version of fring for the Internet Tablet is now available for download. For those who are not familiar with fring, it lets you make free calls and live chat with all your fring, Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM friends.

fring is available in all sorts of platforms -- Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone, Java ME, and now Maemo. If you are connected to a high-speed connection, calls made to other mobiles running fring is free. Calls however to landlines and regular cellular contacts can be made via SkypeOut or via SIP.
