Last week, CuteSpot broke, along with all other applications using libspotify, as Spotify changed something that prevents it retrieving user playlists. It seems a fix for this is using the Spotify Web API to retrieve the playlists and then use libspotify itself to play the songs: see this bug report discussion for more details. Would it be possibly to implement this sort of fix in CuteSpot?
(Using the Android client is apparently not an option, because sound playback is apparently broken in it on Sailfish X.)

On my Xperia X CuteSpot shows no playlists at all, while searching for songs and albums and playing them works fine.
