I bought a n 900 recently and do not have the password sudo. Is it necessary the password sudo to install the east maemo ? And how can I recover this password? Thank you.

Have you checked maemo wikipage in this forum? You may find there answers. If not, you can search with google things you need to find from this forum like "sudo password maemo talk" and you may find links to threads with that topic. These questions have already been asked many times and I think that if in maemo wikipage you do not find answers people here (me included) could update the wikipage to answer all common questions. It seems like more people are starting to use N900 again so there could be a page to answer all common questions (if wikipage wont answer). I know, a bit annoying answer but if you stick around on this forum you will understand why I answer like this.

When you made this thread and topic normally the forum page says "there are similar questions" and shows many threads to you where you can look for info. Did this happen to you and did you check them? This is to avoid of filling this forum with same questions asked in different threads. if you find your answer could you remove your first post so that this thread will be deleted?

Or then someone will answer you here which is not a good thing for this forum. And if you have (and probably will have) more questions you can first search for answers from threads and if you don't find then you can ask a question in a thread which is most related to your question. That way the thread of certain topic will include more info of that topic instead of this place to be filled with many similar threads.

I guess you want to update the system first. Check if you have the latest version of Maemo 5: 21.2011.38-1
