Been enjoying all the features of my Nokia 770 and learning alot from this forum and others. I recently have been interested in getting a BT GPS receiver. Kinda curious what models other people in the forum are using with the 770 and maemo mapper. Any probs or issues? Any recommendations for a BT GPS? Thanx....

Holux GPSlim240 works fine with the N800 and N770.

I've got my Holux M-1000B from eBay, it's been working fine with Maemo Mapper so far.

You may want to try searching the forums for this type of thread which has been brought up in the past. I'm not sure how many will respond again to something previously requested.

Myself, I've successfully used my GoPass GPT-600 (US version- original is called the GPT-800 as seen here http://www.gopass.com.tw/Product/GPT...S_receiver.htm ) which I purchased at Geeks.com
with all incarnations of Maemo Mapper. It uses a Sirf III chipset, similar but different to the one currently offered at Geeks.com

There are plenty of opinions/good devices out there...I was focused on < $50 with Sirf III and have been pleasantly satisfied with my purchase. It came with a wall charger and car charger via USB - definitely the way to go for charging-whilst-mapping. Good luck in your search.

I agree... I use my Nokia LD-3W all over Las Vegas, in LA, and Phoenix. I also used it in Eastern Europe for about a month with no problems at all. The best part about the LD-3W is that it uses the same charger as the Nokia 770 so if you're on the road, you only need a single car charger.

As I understand it, anything that supports the NMEA standard will work.

I bought a teensy-weensy BT-5 for US$37 and it works great.
