Hi,
I have a problem installing the .deb file in the opera browser.
When I click on the .deb file, it opens up in text format instead of installing.
I must have accidentally trigger some setting.
How can I fix this?

Since updating to the latest firmware, I'm having the same problem (specifically with installing the yellow notes applet).

I even tried downloading the file, saving it in the documents folder, and trying to open it ... but application manager just didn't like/recognize it.

What happens when you open File Manager, find the .deb fie, and double click it?

same problem here...
but it seems not to be mozilla dependent (same behavior with both engines)

Only way I've found is to download the deb using wget and open the file with app manager

It doesn't recognize it as an application manager file. Just a generic file. So it doesn't send it to application manager.

Right. It happens to me too, with the Microb browser. Same thing happens with the UK Media player, but not with Canoe. I have downloaded and installed them before with no problem. I suspect it is a Maemo site problem.

Did it start after updating to the latest n800 firmware? Or unrelated?

Hello... I had the same problem with gpodder, but not canoe or gfrotz. I ended up 'saving page as' and then renaming the file in xterm to a .deb (from .htm)

This morning I found they had fixed the repository containing python so was able to install that and then gpodder ok. This issue with the gpodder .deb seems to have just recently turned up - I've made no changes to firmware.

I don't think it has anything to do with the latest firmware.
