Can anyone confirm if there has been any improvements in the PDF reader in N810 or ITOS2008 in the following?
  • Page scrolling - N800 PDF reader doesn't allow continuous page scrolling (switching from page to page in full screen) like Evince does. Has this been fixed in N810 or ITOS2008?
(This is a major flaw in the default PDF reader)
  • PDF hyperlinks - N800 PDF reader doesn't allow clicking on links in the PDF to move to different sections while Evince does. Has this been fixed in N810 or ITOS2008?

I don't use Evince so I do not know exactly what you mean...

Page scrolling: Do you mean to scroll pages so that you just scroll up, and new page appear from the bottom? No, it does not work that way. What I found is that in full screen mode there are now "invisible" buttons on left and right side of the screen to flip over previous/next page. Personally I found these very useful!

Hyperlinks? I checked that URL-links embedded in the PDF document do not work. Table of Contents links? I didn't find option to turn on the TOC on PDF documents that I found having it on Windows PC.

Thanks Mara. Yes, by page scrolling I meant that when you touch scroll or drag the page, it doesn't stop at the end of the page but next page shows up in a continuous manner.

What do you mean by those "invisible buttons" to go to the previous/next pages?

Here is a sample PDF with links. Any text in this PDF in blue color is a link which on clicking will take you to a different section of the document if you use Adobe Reader on Windows or Evince on N800. It just doesn't work in PDF reader that comes with N800 by default:

Tried this document and those blue links do nothing...

Being able to switch pages while full-screened was the one major thing I was missing. Awesome.

Why even make a pdf reader without a table of contents option??? I hope evince runs a bit faster in ITOS2008.

Kooda, I just use evince. What does PDF reader offer that Evince doesn't? I hope that the PDF reader is upgraded, but if not I'm fine with evince.

If it's such a problem, there's bound to be a bug on it. If not, I'll file one. FWIW, most Linux PDF readers also do not support hyperlinks within a document/table of contents.

Bug filed: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2150
I filed it against 4.0 in the hopes of getting it fixed before IT2008 is released. Might be too late for the first version.

I don't see any blue color on the links on the N800 whatsoever.
