If you set it to the same time as the "Switch off display" setting, then it will go straight to off with no dim.

I want it to be permanent on, because I want to use mclock as a normal clock

With this you can select up to 24 hour, or 1440 minutes from the control panel display settings
DIMMER:
gconftool-2 --type "list" --list-type "int" --set "/system/osso/dsm/display/possible_display_dim_timeouts" "[10,30,60,120,300,600,1200,1800,3600,86400]"
BLANKER:

It doesn't show as available yet.Edit: Never mind. I found it at Maemo.
It shows not available at Garage Maemo.
