Ok - I know it won't really help but I just need to vent...

1) Find it really irritating that I was sold a device running what was apparently a beta version of the OS to begin with.

2) When the "real" release comes out I have to chuck all the apps and a good part of the tweaking I'd done in order to upgrade. WTF?

3) The OS image must be hosted on a Timex Z-80 with a 110baud modem in rural Finland or outer Mongolia. What is up with 13 hours to download 140mb? That, after 4 hours of hitting reload on the proxy server that kept bonking. This from a "communications" company! I worry about our northern friends if this is the way telcom works up there...

4) Now that I've "upgraded" it seems that all the repositories are so overwhelmed that it's impossible to even get a refresh - much less re-install applications. I'm not really upset about this - a huge thank you to the folks that hack the software and host these - THANK YOU! It just bugs me that I need to re-install EVERYTHING because of an upgrade. Haven't had to do this on any system since I killed the guy at work that used to install Linux on a single partition!

I want my stuff back! WAAAAA!

Just be glad you weren't around for the OS2005 days and at least have a list of your installed applications for Application Manager to go through.

Oh I was... My second 770 currently has the WSOD - I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

Feeling better? Now I'm looking forward to the other 1000 new threads with each user apparently entitled to start their own as a personal whining session. But I guess your complaints were more important than those of the people who added to an existing thread....

Come to think of it, why am I adding to *your* thread when I could just start my own?

I don't know why some people are here, but I'm interested in what people are thinking and less interested in going to the bottom of a 67-message thread to find out this week's messages.

So please, feel free to start a new thread!

I couldn't agree more. I like short, concise, threads that deal with a single topic.

Moreover, I share the same frustrations about the beta OS. This is my first linux experience, and, to be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed. This sorta reminds me of the old ipaq days when your device died and you lost ALL of your data. Sheesh!

Oh you are soooo in my new club! Welcome!

Hey CivitasDei, if you agree with geneven then why are you adding to this thread?! You should be starting your own!

Haha, touche.

But to be fair, I did contribute something that pertained to the topic. I didn't start ranting about popsicles or rocks.

Now, THIS post is completely hypocritical.
