I just updated my n810 to the latest firmware and changed my systemui.xml and mce file to enable softpoweroff. Now when I hold my powerbutton the screen turns off and then turns back on in offline mode. Also, when I select softpoweroff from the menu the screen turns off and stays off, but as soon as I touch the screen it comes back on.

Anybody else having this problem?

Talk about choosing the wrong bug.

"Talk about choosing the wrong bug."
Was that really necessary?
Obviously I thought it was close enough to the bug I experienced and I was not aware of bug ID 2400.
Seems like every post I've seen you make in the last few days you are being kind of a jerk.

both those bugs are assigned to the n800, can I assume that if it's fixed for the n800 that it will also be fixed for the n810? I only ask because eventhough they both run os2008, there was a different firmware download for the n810

unfortunately we do have a few members here that take every opportunity to act like a jackass when someone is trying to get an answer to a question.

Sorry, I didn't intend the tone to be rude. Shoulda added a smiley in there somewhere.

#2400 has some more info re: the resolution. So, hopefully it'll make the progress on fixing the bug more apparent.

Anyway, the rest of the jerkiness just helps me to keep from losing it outright. Hopefully the helpfulness outweighs the jerkiness. If not, I suppose I could stop bothering with for a few weeks and come back after the holidays.

Perhaps, but it's better than the questions not getting answered.

That is somewhat of a showstopper for me. Over the last few weeks I had barely got over the loss of the 770's hard cover on the N800, and adjusted to the "soft poweroff" mode in OS2007 (which is an acceptable compromise, but not present out-of-the-box), only to learn it's been broken in OS2008.

Why does it always have to be "win some, lose a lot" with each and every tablet upgrade, be it hardware or software ?...

God knows, but it's a freaking pain in the ***, isn't it?
