Has anyone else noticed that when an MP3 http radio stream is broken, the medial player times out with a dialog asking whether to re-connect?
This often happens while I'm streaming an http MP3 stream tethered over my GPRS (EDGE) connection on my e61i phone.
My rant has to do with the re-connect dialog box as a default. This is essentially bad form and is not consistent with other best-in-breed streaming software - or even other Nokia devices.
As is the case when streaming *directly* with my Nokia e61i, the default behaviour should be for the player to re-attempt the connection every x seconds.
Instead, the user is forced to respond to a dialog and choose "yes", re-connect. This can be particularly disruptive when I'm on the go and my N800 (OS2008) is in my jacket pocket.
Nokia should fix this to at least allow the option to auto-reconnect when the stream is broken - without user input.
BTW, when this occurs, the GPRS connection is still active between the N800 and the phone. I suspect that the signal weakens enough for the stream to be broken - and once that occurs, the media player prompts to re-connect - even though the connection is still active.
I'm curious to see whether anyone else has run into this particular use-case and has the same observation.
