After reading several posts, I finally got my n800 to sync. But all it does is go through the motions. I have desktop overwrites handheld checked, but nothing comes over from my pc. And also, when I go to my sony backup files and move an app like diddlebug to my sd card and put it in the 800 and install it, it says it installed correctly....but where did it go? It is not with the other GVM apps. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Seems like I have been staring at this screen all day and still can't get it to work

I haven't been able to get my Date Book data to sync, but the apps work.
Run GVM, launch one of the base apps, and hit the Home icon in the lower left.
Should take you to the familiar Palm menu. Find your apps.

That little home button works great! All my apps that I installed are there....all but diddlebug. I wonder where that one went? Oh well, the others are there and thats a good thing. Wouldn't it be marvelous if somebody came up with a way to enlarge the palm screen to make full use of the Nokia N800!!

For me it was no problem getting HotSync to SAY that it works, I get the expected messages that it's restoring the handheld databases. But when I actually open Date Book or Todo or whatever, there's no data there. What's up with that?

OTOH I copied splashid.prc & splashid.pdb files to my card, installed BOTH and that program works just fine.

Anyway to that file the dat files for the built-in applications?

I finally got a successful hot sync message as well (after removing my trial edition of Norton's firewall from my laptop and replacing it with Comodo). However, now I have the same problem as aganon. When I open the apps, no contacts or appointments or memos. Any suggestions?

Yeah the PIM data doesn't seem to sync.... kind if a bummer bu I exported all of that to GPE contacts and GPE calendar. The calendar can sync with a Google Calendar fairly well.

My Garnet VM issue is that if it blows up it seems to lose "everything" I've installed and I'm back at square 1. I think it's not quite ready to be depended on. I'm scrambling to replace my last big app needs (Mostly HandDBase which works but won't sync and I lose it all when Garnet hiccups.)

One day I'll print my SplashID list and have my wife read me my passwords and I'll enter them manually into password safe .... Ouch!

I could never get a hotsync to complete, after trying a half-dozen times. It would always disconnect before the sync completed.

Some app syncing kept failing and screwing up the hotsync so I finally stopped syncing HandBase and the usual Backup.
