Brand new - just received it yesterday - N800. When I went to power it up the very first time, it would get hung up on time/date wizard. Finally - one time it went through to the Home screen. I tried to configure things there but various features would not work.

So, I decided to upgrade to OS2008. Upgrade was easy with Windows Upgrade Wizard. Same problem - getting hung up in the initial settings wizard. Finally again - it just worked and went past that spot. I then got to setting things up. I installed skype but when I went to use it, the little box would pop up saying Skype Loading - but nothing would load up. Then it started cycling on and off. The screen would go blank - then it would turn back on, go through the loading procedure to the Nokia "hands" screen where it would hang up for about 30 seconds then shut off and start all over again. The only thing I could do is pull the battery. After spending hours trying to figure out what was causing this I decided to reload OS2007. Again, it was easy with the Windows Upgrade Wizard - but now I'm back to the original problem - getting hung up on the settings wizard.

This is my first exposure to these Tablets and my first exposure to Linix. My first impressions are horrible.

Am I doing something wrong - or is this particular unit a dud?

I think if I were you I would see if I could get a replacement from your vendor. These things can do some wierd things sometimes, but what you are discribing is pretty bad imho. Usually reflashing seems to resolve most things, but since this has not worked for you I think you may have a lemmon.

Now working OK - not sure what is was - I reloaded OS2008 but using a file from a different source. Maybe original was corrupt??? Anyway, I don't really know what I'm talking about, just glad it works now.
