Hi everyone,

I'm with my brand new toy for about 24 hours, and I'll take this opportunity to congratulate Nokia, the Maemo team and contributors, just as this forum contributors : great, great job !

My question, because I've not found it anywhere : what cable/adapter is available (officially ? or not...) for connecting the N810 to Hifi _via_ the 4-pin stereo jack ? ("standard" is 3-pin...)

thanks,

XooH

The standard 3-pin jack will work without problems, the pin nr. 4 is just used for the microphone on the headset, but i guess you do not intend to use your Hifi equipment as microphone input for the N810, so it should not matter in your case.

Thx. But... no risk of short-circuit between the mic pin and the "other" ?
(sorry if it sounds a bit dumb ;-))

No. It's a very straightforward 3.5mm stereo jack. It just has an additional micro input (like thousands of other devices).

Is the micro input standard, i.e. can we buy wired headsets from other brands and use it with the N8x0?

I recall seeing a stereo headset out there with a mic and was wondering if that would work with my N800. This way, I get to enjoy my music/movies on the go, and still be able to have a VoIP call

Of course, but I was NOT talking about another _headset_ (with mic) than the one supplied with the N810.

My question was about a standard 3-pin jack to hifi (line-in).

GeneralAntilles says it's OK.

Anyone else ? ;-)

Yes, I've used my N800 and my 770 on a lot of different stereo equipment (have the N800 plugged into my Onkyo with a 3.5mm-to-RCA adaptor right now).

As for the headsets, a lot of headsets come in a two-plug configuration (one for stereo, one for mic), so you'd have to get an adaptor for those, but if you find one with a single cable, then, yes, it'll work.

I got one of those adaptor cables (splitter from one to two: mic+headhphones) from expansys, it works fine with my N800 (it's labeled as for IPAQ on the expansys site).

You don't need any special cable - regular headphones, aux. input to car stereo, etc. all work fine with that plug. If you get a splitter like the previous poster, then you can use a computer-style headset (with separate plugs for headphones and microphone) instead of a 4 contact plug headset, which might be harder to find.

Hi. A bit of-topic, but perhaps usefull though : I have a Nokia 6120c phone, which has a 2,5mm 4-pin jack. Do somenone know a 2,5 to 3,5 mm converter, to plug the headset of the 6120c to the N810 or the other way round ?
thx,
XooH
