I thought I remembered a post on this, but search shows nothing...

Internal memory on my 810 was corrupted, so I reformatted following the excellent tips on this forum. I had to download USA West and East maps. Now Wayfinder only displays my current speed in kmh. I've tried config, restarts, etc. but nothing makes it display mph. Any ideas - maybe something as simple as a config file I can edit?

Thanks.

And make sure your language is set to "English USA" and not "English UK"...

This may well be the same symptom. Thank you for the reference!

I've found that distances to waypoints are indeed displayed in imperial units. It appears to be related to the gps subsystem rather than wayfinder. As a test I bailed out of wayfinder then used control panel to lock gps and show location. The units displayed are metric...

I wonder where gpsd's config is stored - maybe somewhere in /etc?

Before I dumped map/wayfinder/whateveritis I had that same problem. Set to US English and to imperial and all it would display was metric :-(. Only one of the many reasons with it that I dumped it and went to maemo mapper :-).

Only thing I can say is that it was easier to get maps on. I changed my settings to all zoom levels and it has been downloading for over 12 hours now, but we are close to done finally .
