OK I have my new European, UK N810 and note that it has attention light on the top left hand corner for a number of attention uses. The only problem being I have not figured them all out yet. (Not found information on their settings and if they are are configurable etc)

These I am sure about:-
  • Charging = Flashing green Light
  • Charged = Steady Green Light
These I am not sure about:-
  • Connected to Wi-Fi/Internet = Flashing Blue Light
  • Not Connected to Wi-Fi/Internet = NO Light?
  • ?? = Flashing Red Light
  • ?? = Steady Red Light

Could anyone clarify usage further?

BTW the flashing blue light is irritating when you leave the N810 on and connected overnight, is there anyway to switch it off? (You would think there would be an option under Control panel, Personalisation)

The control panel settings allow to turn the alerts on/off...

But I'd also like to know what colours refer to what - the control panel doesn't say what colour means what.

Not sure I've ever seen a red led display - what's that one ?

Probably when you see a red light, it's the last thing you will see in your (or device's) life MSPANC*

There's a full list on the Nokia website. Go to http://europe.nokia.com/A4678161, select 'Search & solve' and search for LED then find the entry "How do I change the LED light settings?" (don't you just hate websites that won't let you get a URL for a useful page?) Here's a copy/paste but formatting messed up:

How do I change the LED light settings?

The LED light is used as a status indicator for both device-wide and application-specific states and events.

To change the LED light settings, tap the Display icon in the status indicator area, and select Display settings > LEDs. Select your desired settings.

The main purpose of the LED light is to:
- Indicate that the device is powered on, in situations when the display is dimmed or turned off
- Signify events that cannot be seen on the screen (for example, a new e-mail message received, new instant message received, missed call, authorization request)
- Provide information on the device states such as battery charging

Nokia N810 Internet Tablet LED light colour descriptions:
Event LED light
Device start-up White
Device shutdown White
Web camera On Red
Charging battery
(shows when device is Off or when device is On but the display is in the Off state) Green blink
Battery fully charged
(shows when device is Off or when device is On but the display is in the Off state) Green
New e-mail message received,
new instant message received,
chat invitation,
missed call,
authorization request *) Blue blink
Device On (shows only when the device display is in the Off state) White blink
I figured out the link: http://europe.nokia.com/search5/disp...0&caseid=65400

OK with the extra information from other posters to this thread I have now set the "Device on" LED option under the Control panel, Display options, LED: to off.
(Unselected tick box)

This has stopped the device flashing a pale blue (supposed to be white) LED to indicate that the device is switched on when the display is in power save mode. (I don't need this setting as unless battery is drained I intend to keep my N810 on 24/7 like my mobile)

Thanks everyone for your helpful posts, especially Duncan with the following link he provided, on what different LED indications mean on N810 http://europe.nokia.com/search5/disp...0&caseid=65400

BTW The red LED for when the webcam/microphone are on, reminds me of the TV & Radio, when broadcasting Live programmes to warn people to be quiet if they did/were not meant to be seen/overheard. The N810 could/would make a great amateur live blogging tool, with an improved Camera etc

My N810 uses the blinking blue to notify that email is available. The availability of WiFi doesn't seem to use the LED.
