Greetings:


I tried to install a new apps called fuelpad, but it needs a file called
gtk +extra2.

When I try to install GTK +Extra2 it states "Incompatible application package"

What has to be done to fix this bug.

Yuu need install library in RedPill mode. But I think it's too bad to replace stanadrt Maemo GTK+ with users GTK+additional widget. I think that program for Maemo must be write by hildon widgets.

You can find tthe instructions to enter the Red Pill Mode in http://hildon-app-mgr.garage.maemo.org/redpill.html
You can and should enter back to Blue Pill Mode after installing gtkextra.

GtkExtra does not replace anything. It is a complementary widget set for Gtk+. You can find more about it in http://gtkextra.sourceforge.net/.

julius, using the red pill mode added fuelpad to the n800. the program seems to work just fine, except it only works for litres and kilometers. is there a way to make it work with miles and gallons?

Thanks for trying fuelpad. Unfortunately at the moment only litres and kilometres are supported, but the current version is just 0.3. I'll have to think how I will implement other units. You can of course enter miles and gallons and pretend that km means miles and litres means gallons, but in case I end up storing the data internally always in litres and kilometres, you will have problems later.

One thing that propably must also be changed is how the fuel consumption is displayed (litres/100 km vs. miles per gallon).

I don't like the Red Pill Mode either and I totally sympatize with you. Remember that you can disable the Red Pill Mode right after you have installed gtkextra.

The solution to prevent the need for Red Pill Mode would be to have fuelpad and gtkextra in some repository (both in the same). However, I don't want to setup a repository of my own (there has been a lot of discussion about "the repository mess" in maemo-developers mailing list).

As time goes on, fuelpad might end up in maemo-extras repository. A good thing at the moment is that now that you have installed gtkextra, you won't have to install it again even though you update fuelpad. Gtkextra seems to have been updated quite rarely.

Gtkextra is needed in the Statistics window to draw the nice graphics. I didn't want to make plotting functions of my own and used gtkextra.

Hello John and others,

I just released a new version, 0.31, which now supports both US and Imperial gallons and miles. I ended up in storing the data internally always in litres and kilometres, so in case you already entered some data pretending litres=gallons and kilometres=miles, you will have to enter the data again (unless you are fluent in SQL and make a conversion directly to the database file /home/user/MyDocs/fuelpad.db). I am sorry about that (but I warned...)

You will find the unit selection in the Settings menu. Changing the unit to something else than SI, also changes the way the fuel consumption is reported (from litres/100 km to miles per gallon).

Obviously I haven't had much time to test it, but at least it installs and runs on the device with either english or finnish localization.
