Hey guys, got my 770 the other day and first thing I did was slap 2007HE on there.

I was just wandering is there any reason NOT to use 2007HE?

And if I do keep 2007HE is there any other suggested things I should do, anything in particular I should do/put on there to maximize performance etc?

Lastly is the latest OS2007HE (46.2 I think) the best way to go, or is a previous version more suitable for normal use?

Just making sure there is no need for me to consider sticking with 2006

Thanks in advance

"This hacker edition is not a end-user ready release. It's a tool to allow developers to continue working on the 770, moving on to the OS 2007 / Bora software platform, bridging the gap between 770 and N800."

There are many threads about OS 2007HE on this forum. Use search to find them. For example, use keyword "2007HE".

This is a standard warning since they do not offer any support for 2007HE. Not that the support for 2006 is existent after they discontinued the device.

2007HE is much stable now after the wifi bug fixed (which bug was in 2006 too).

2007HE is quite solid on my 770. I've recently disabled the automatic rss update - and this has brought the stability close to a 100%. I seldom have to reset (in the last week the 770 has rebooted by itself once).
My daily "routines" are claws mail (imap), microB enabled browsing and vnc.

The only problem I have with HE2007 is that scrolling in websites is screwed. It seems that the up down buttons respond to input boxes, even when I use continued press - so instead of scrolling, it jumps to next/previous input box, and then starts scrolling. This makes scrolling with the buttons unusable. Not sure if I'm the only one with that problem...

Yup. I flashed the one that said "latest fiasco image" or something like that. It was just very slow and unstable when compared to the 2006 firmware. Any tips on how to make it better? When it wasnt crashing it was pretty nice lol.

It's been fine for me. While there's been a lot of talk about instability I've had no more issues than I did with 2006. Mind you, I'm not going to intensive websites or trying to keep 20 apps open at once. My usage is pretty straightforward and simple. The biggest bonus is that most of the 2007OS apps work on it (albeit somewhat slower). I think the N800 has seen the biggest amount of development thrown towards it so far, so that's a definite plus and worth a potential increase in reboots.
