Any chance of a Simcity 2000 port on the IT ? I am a newbie, so excuse if this is a silly Q.

I doubt that we will ever see a Simcity 2000 port on the IT.
As far as I know, it is not opensource, so no chances to recompile it for the tablets, unless the editor decides that it wants to support IT platforms (I also doubt that!)

On the other hand, if Simcity 2000 runs under DOS (I really don't remember if it was a DOS or Windows game....or both of them), then it may be possible to run it under DosBox with DOS emulation...

Speaking of DOSBOX. Has anyone attempted to run Windows 3.1 on top of DOSBOX on an IT? I tossed my Win 3.1 software a long time ago, but that'd be a neat trick to show people. :-)

Luckily , I think I still have all my old software, so I'll have to give it a try.

You know what? I would really love to have some old games working on the N800.

Ultima V to IX
Wizardry I t V
Roadwar 2000
Roadwar Europa
The Ancient Art of War
The Ancient Art of War at Sea
Might & Magic

I'm old-school. I like old Apple II games. And I bet they would run plenty smooth on our N800s.

yes its a DOS program, I will try to run the demo version using DOSBox. Even the demo version of SimCity 2000 was exciting with not a lot of difference from a full version.

simcity 2000 can run under dosbox, did it just tonight on my n900 but it's sooooo slow you want to die, and saying nothing about eating your battery alive! not really playable... a shame i checked it online ans saw that there is a version on the iphone... so i wonder if our turn will come...

ok after a litle googeling and tries i manage to make sim city 2000 work fast and good!
these are the configiration in the dosbox-0.73.conf changes that worked for my n900, for other devices it should be the same, but note your battery gonna suffer!

[line 53] frameskip=5 (was 0)
[line 75] cycles=max (was auto) these will probably kill your battery, so if you want leave it on auto, and increase the frameskip.
[line 87] nosound=true (was false)
[line 99] mpu401=none (was intelligent)
[line 122] sbtype=none (was sb16)
[line 147] gus=false (suppose to be false by default)
[line 164] pcspeaker=false (was true)

that's that
now you will have no sound (we need the speed for the game)
if you can try it and tell us the battery usesage please will

have fun!
