Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but here's the deal. I first ordered a Screen Patronus for my n810 from ebay, and an Invisible Shield a day later. I got the Patronus first, and put it on without any fingerprints or dust, but the screen wouldn't respond to the stylus. The Invisible Shield came in a day later, so I pulled off the Screen Patronus and realized it probably wasn't responding because I hadn't completely tucked in one corner of the Patronus. Thus, it was putting pressure on that one corner constantly and no other touches would register. I put the invisible shield on, but got fingerprints on the adhesive side. I emailed them and got a free replacement. The replacement has been on for about 2 weeks.

While there aren't any fingerprints or dust or big bubbles on the invisible shield, I don't like the rubbery grip, the micro dimples, and the fact that I have to press harder for it to register. I also think it dulls the screen ever so slightly.

So my question is does anyone use the Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal - Nokia N800 on the N810? If so, how is the installation? Does it have a sticky side or is it solution that evaporates like the invisible shield? Is it truly clear? Does it change the touch sensitivity of the screen?

Are there any other good options besides the three I listed?

Thanks for the advice,
Mike

I have 3 units with Boxwave protectors (2 Anti-Glare and one Crystal on 2 770s and an N800—the N800 is Anti-Glare) application isn't particularly hard, it's just a little time-consuming. The good news is that it's easy to wash off the dust/dirt/fingerprints and try again if you mess up (and I did, a lot . . . damn dusty house ). The one side is adhesive, but it's the sort of adhesive that's easily cleaned in water and doesn't wash off (sorta similar to those sticky-hand toys). See my post on page 2 of the thread here for more details.*

Is it truly clear?
No, I couldn't perceive a difference in brightness between the naked and the protected screen on my 770, but, personally, I'd go with the Anti-Glare. The glare reduction is really useful in a lot of different lighting conditions (especially outdoors and in some overhead fluorescent conditions), and the texture is spot-on perfect (sorta like smooth paper). You wont notice the incredibly minor brightness reduction, either (it is incredibly subtle), and even if that did manage to bother you, the glare reduction more than outweighs it.

Does it change the touch sensitivity of the screen?
Not so far as I could tell. I went from the shipping protector (after 6 months ) to the Boxwave protector without trying the touchscreen naked, but I didn't notice any drop in sensitivity between the shipping protector and the Boxwave one.

*If you decide to go with the Boxwave and end up following my steps, think you could take a few snapshots for me so I have some images to go with my howto?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'll take some pictures for you if I go with the BoxWave, which I'm really leaning towards now. Thanks again!

Did you ever get the Boxwave? I'm interested in getting the anti-glare for my N800, but I need to find a Canadian or at least decent Ebay supplier for it. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. tx

Brando Anti-glare SPs are identical to Boxwave. They offer $3 world wide shipping from Hong Kong & the SPs themselves are less expensive than Boxwave - only $9 (vs $13). Shipping from HK is surprisingly quick to the US, I imagine it wouldn't be much different to Canada.

I notice that's the link for the N810 & they have no N800 listed. I assume the screen sizes are the same though, right? tx

I've tried both the ClearTouch Anti-glare and the ClearTouch Crystal. Prior to this I'd also tried the one that comes with the BodyGuardz body protection kit and the ScreenGuardz HD. My favorite of all four is the ClearTouch Crystal. It gives the screen a glossy look - colors look richer and more vibrant, while the feel of the surface is identical to stock. This was very noticeable when comparing it to the Anti-glare one, which made the images look slightly hazy. Also, I don't use my N810 much outside so the anti-glare characteristics wasn't a big selling point for me but obviously how you're going to use yours will be an important factor in your decision.

A couple tips for installing your screen protector - don't peel off the backing all the way right off, peel off just enough to install it, then lay it down on the screen and peel off the backing as you go. You will need to adjust the screen protector to get it to line up perfectly and fit within the bezel, as the ClearTouch ones are cut perfectly to size. Also, as you're laying down the protector, look for dust that snuck in, lift the protector off of the screen, and use some Scotch tape to remove it from the adhesive side of the protector, this may take a couple of tries but works pretty well.

I know that the BoxWave "ClearTouch" for the Nokia 770 fits perfectly on the N800.

Does the N810 have EXACTLY the same size screen as the 770 and the N800?

BoxWave ClearTouch protectors are pretty expensive so I don't want to "waste" a 770 protector on an N810 if they're not exactly the same size.

Will a BoxWave for the 770 be a perfect fit on an N810?

I'm pretty sure I checked "n810" when I bought my boxwave screen protector, and when I got it the package said "n800". It fits my n810 perfectly.

""Are there any other good options besides the three I listed?""

I use this method with all my PDA's.
I went to the hardware store and bought half a yard of 36 inch wide crystal clear plastic sheeting for about $2 (enough for about 60 to 75 protectors). It's maybe half a mm thick. I cut it larger than the screen by about 3mm in each direction, then slid it under the screen bezel. No glues, no residue, it just sits there. When the air between the screen and the protector is squeezed out (which happens naturally when you use the nokia for 5 minutes) it doesn't move...at all.

You can't tell there's a screen protector on at all, in fact it somehow looks even more vibrant than without, and the price can't be beat.
It removes in a couple of seconds, just wet an index finger slightly for grip then slide up one corner, can be cleaned (windex), and reused.
