I am using the latest OS 2008 version, can't seem to install the OTR plugin for Pidgin (3.1.0-1nix3). It downloads fine from the apps catalog, progress bar goes up to 322K but when it completes the download I get this error:

Unable to download Pidgin "Off-the-record" Secure Messaging. Application package not found.
[CLOSE]

I am a bit puzzled the package is indeed in the apps list, and it shows a download progress bar, contradicting the message. What is wrong ?

As a workaround, I was able to install it from the command line:
sudo gainroot
apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pidgin-otr
