I'm trying to get my Nokia 770 to work as a client with my XP workstation. I have a home LAN that have 5 Windows XP computers ethernet wired to. The router I'm using is a Linksys Wireless model and my Nokia works fine accessing the internet from it.

The problem I'm having is that all the XP computers can connect as clients to my VNC Server ( also on the same Home LAN ). I am using the lastest VNC software. My question is are there additional settings that I need to configure so the Nokia 770 can become a client? I have enabled all the appropriate ports. I used the VCN Viewer file "http://www.aracnet.com/~alevinsn/vncviewer_0.3_arm.deb " version 0.3 from "http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog".

I used the Nokia's "Application Installer" to install the program. Currently it is the only non-original application on the system.

Is there something else I need to enable to get this to connect to my server? I don't understand why all the other PC's can connect and the Nokia can't.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Which vnc server are you using? I had some problem with ultraVNC, but works fine with tightVNC. No special setting on client side just enter xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5900. You are entering IP address instead of hostname right?

The problem is probablly with a XP firawall. Diasable firwall on Win XP machines or configure your firewall in order to enable port 5900 TCP and UDP (I am not sure it is TCP or UDP).

Thanks for the replies, I do now have this program working

Here's what I found:
I assumed that with connect all the time set for my home LAN that I wouldn't have to manually connect, but it wasn't until I manually connected to the LAN that it the VNC Viewer worked.

Why does using a bookmark to access the internet not require any manual connection to the LAN whereas when using the VNC Viewer require it?

In any event thanks to all for the help and the application!
