Hi,

I just bought a N800.

After charging the battery for a whole night, the next day it ran out of charge after four hours, in idle mode. That seemed strange to me, and last night I left it charging again. When look at it in the morning, it still showed the message "charging battery" (it was turned off). żIs it normal? żDoes it ever show a message of "battery fully charged" or similar?

Yes, it will, when the battery is fully charged. That last 5% can take quite a while, nature of Li-ion batteries at work.

But overnight should be plenty, so you undoubtedly have some battery-wastage going on in the background, or you're using a smaller charger (lower-current chargers work, they just take longer when idle, and go backward with less load).

There are some software problems with the charging behavior. The OS2008 update released yesterday addresses one of them, though it's not entirely clear if it solves everything.

One thing I've noticed is that if I use the unit on the charger and then turn it off, it says "Charging", but it really isn't. No matter how long I leave it, charging does not complete and the battery charge does not increase. If I unplug it for a minute, then plug the charger in again, the charge normally completes quickly.
