For unknown reasons I cannot turn off my 10 days old Nokia 770. The behaviour is as follows:

When powe on/off is pressed a window pops up with the following message:

Now press (SELECT)

After pressing SELECT a new window appears with the followig message:

Touch screen and keys are active

When the SELECT is not pressed then the Nokia 770 goes into standby (screen goes out). The Nokia 770 can be used by pressing the power on button again.

Q: how to turn off the Nokia 770??

That's the behaviour or the Lock Touch Screen and Keys option. When you press the power button and the menu comes up, you *are* picking 'Switch Off!' right?

Otherwise hold the power button down for a few seconds.

No, Even holding down the power button for a while does not result in a window indicating that I can switch off the device

Finally I have to recharge the nokia (after the batteries are empty). Now, during the recharge, and pressing the power button I get the option to power off the nokia
