use emelfm2, go to /usr/share/sounds/ and replace the ui-new_email.wav , with whatever wav file you want...personally, i use the "pow" from the old yahoo messenger sounds, gets my attention even in another room. if youd like the .wav, just pm me and i can email it to ya. All other system sounds are located in this folder as well... i use a clip of the imperial march from star wars as my startup sound.

sorry , my fault... you have to go into xterm, type sudo gainroot (assuming you have easyroot installed), then type emelfm2, this will launch emelfm2 with root priveleges and then make sure you have the big "H" icon taped in the corner so theres a red line through it then navigete to the folder and drag your file into where it belongs. It will pop up a confirmation dialog asking if you want to overwrite the older one, click yes , then you are all set.
