Hi Guys,

Finally got myself a Nokia N82 the other day and it works very well with the N810 (except for PIM, but lets not go there right noww ).

I've got a T-Mobile (UK) Web & Walk package and with it, I can use the N810 to surf the internet etc. no problem. However, when I run Wayfinder and ask it to do a traffic update or a camera update, it just says network error.

I have an active connection and am able to use the web at the same time, just Wayfinder that gives the error.

Even have Maemo Mapper installed and that fetches the maps on the fly fine (great app). So I don't think there is a problem with the connection in any way.

Any ideas what the problem is ? Why would Wayfinder insist on it being a WiFi connection.

I have tried switching between my WiFi and Phone connections and each time the Wayfinder only failed on the phone connection, so can't be that the servers are down or anything.

The connection is 3.5G by the way, so performance should not be an issue. Though there is quite a lag on teh web before it resolves a connection. After that, it downloads quick.

I've done a search on the forums and did not come across anything obvious...

Any ideas ?

I think Wayfinder has issues with certain forms of internet access. For example, I couldn't download maps on a satellite connection (even from their website!). Never did figure out how to resolve it though (trust me it was a pain when I couldn't get the download to work from my desktop or laptop as well). So I just had my girlfriend download it for me on her cable connection and give it to me on a USB flash drive.

T-Mobile uses a proxy and Wayfinder does not support this. Well, at least it does not like the web'n walk proxy for some reason...

So much for on the fly traffic updates...

Any way round this ?

Zuber, sorry to hijack your thread, but I noticed that you've managed to get your N810 working with the T-Mobile WnW service. I have a Sony Ericsson W850i and even though I haven't got a specific WnW tariff, it allows me to access the web from my phone. However, I can't for the life of me get the N810 to use the phone for a web connection via bluetooth. The bluetooth connectivity is ok, but the data settings elude me.

Now this could be because T-Mobile has somehow barred the access via bluetooth and this barring is removed as part of the sign-up for WnW. But, of course, I don't want to sign-up if there is some fundamental reason why the phone and NIT are incompatible.

If I could just get them to talk, I could be sure that the WnW service would be of some use to me. Could I ask what settings you used on the NIT to gain access to the T-Mobile WnW service?

Hi there, did u ever get any feedback from them? I guess not as you've just sold your N810!

I've got the same problem with a simple GPRS/Bluetooth connection with O2. Wifi fine.

Two months in and Wayfinder are still analysing a tcpdump log of the 13 packets that fly on a manual traffic update then same "network error" box u got. Not looking hopeful to be honest.

Wayfinder cannot do this either when you're using Privoxy. Maybe your ISP runs some kind of proxy which mangles the HTTP traffic?

Somebody should open a bug report on wayfinder. It sounds like its http handling code doesn't handle proxies.

err who says? Wayfinder haven't said this to me.... so far.

Wayfinder told me they used another port than 8080/http protocol (port 9000). Then asked O2 who denied mangling traffic with their proxy on 9000. So captured log and sent to Wayfinder. Still waiting.

BUT, I just went and checked log before replying and yes, Map is using port 80 after all.

Wayfinder have had a log of packets from me for a month and couldn't even find the this out - on their own protocol!

O2 just informed me today there is no proxy (as not Wap) on port 80.

So, I still don't know what is going on. Network fault or sw bug/feature missing. Neither side supports the other so I am left in the middle ground trying to perform systems integration
