Hello all:

Does any of you know if there is some software to enable Bluetooth file transfers, both to and from the Nokia Internet Tablet and a bluetooth enabled computer, such as a PC or a Mac.

If you can post which software to install (which repository to install from also) and, some recommendations as on how to configure it in order to use it, preferably from the GUI, with the file manager, for instance, to send/receive files.

I have played a bit with some OBEX code but it has turned out to be kind of "obscure" the way it shoud be configured and used, and this is all done with a terminal shell.

Any comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know file sending via bluetooth works out of the box on OS2008.

Select the file you want to send, hold your stylus on it until the contextual menu comes up and then select send to bluetooth recipient.

just make sure your recipient is visible. it may be a bug, but it seems that with os08 my N800 cant see my phone even if its paired with the N800.

funny thing is, that i can access said phone via the built in file manager of the os on the N800...

You are correct, sending OUT works perfectly fine, exactly with the method you described.

Now, what to do about sending IN to the N800/N810 (OS2008) ?... any ideas are
more than welcome.

Thanks and regards.

I do all my file transferring via bluetooth, and it works really well.
On the PC/MAC side, its not software that you need, its a "USB BLUETOOTH DONGLE" Plug the dongle into your PC/MAN and setup the software as directed. Then "PAIR" it to your N800. Its easy and fast, the only downside is I can only send one file at a time, unless I compres the file, send it, then uncompress it on the N800. You should also be able to send a file "FROM" your N800 to your PC/MAC.

Oviously, all this is done .!! Of couse I got an Bluetooth dongle for my PC , the Mac has built-in BT.

Also, all devices are paired to/with the Nokia N810 and set as trusted devices to each other.

The issue is that I can send files from the Nokia to the PC, nevertheless I can't do the reverse, send files from the PC (or the Mac, or my Nokia cell phone, or any other BT enabled computer) to the N810.

So, the inbound bluetooth transmission, to the N810 is where the problem or mis-configuration lies.

Hmm, sounds strange.

I have only tried this once, transfering af pic from my Nokia phone (6280) to my N800. It worked straight out of the box - just send to BT recipient from the phone and selecting the N800 worked.

It seems that tso also has it working, although only using the file manager...

Do you set the BT on the N810 to "visible" before sending from the PC ? That option is off by default.

The N8x0 can definitely receive view OBEX. If it doesn't show up on the PC, set it to visible. That's a bug/missing feature of the PC to not always show paired devices, regardless of their visibility status.
