I'm looking at purchasing a Canon Powershot SD1000 and was wondering if there was a way I can transfer my photos to the n810 via USB. Not sure what a mini-b jack is, but thats what comes with the Canon. If not, is there a way to hook in a regular SD card to the miniSD slot on the N810? (SD to miniSD???) From what I can tell, the Cannon isn't SDHC compatible. I'm going to be travelling abroad and wanted to download pictures to the n810 and upload those onto the internet. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you all for your help!!!

Im no camera person, I don't have money for a decent one, but thats besides the point.

Since USB host is integrated somewhat into OS2008 you could out of the box with a usb On The Go cable (OTG) to trip your n810 into host mode, but that I do not advise. Get a USB female to female adapter (full size, not micro or mini usb) and get a little piece of software for your n810 called usbcontrol. Keep in mind you need the proper cable you would connect your computer to the camera with, and it may need more than the 250 MiliAmps the n810's max usb power output so it might need an external hub. Otherwise, you can just get a miniSD to SD adapter and put it in your n810 whenever you wanna get photos off of it.

you could probably get the camera hooked up via usb without too much trouble, but it would be much easier to just use a mini sd card with an adapter to make it regular sd for the camera. then you could slide the mini sd out of the adapter and into the 810.

- unfortunately, most Canons use PTP which is not supported by any [current] app for the NIT...

(i have an a570is, so as previous posters have mentioned, the SD reader approach would be necessary; OTOH, i also have a Sony s700 which works perfectly for pic transfers when attached to my NIT)
