I've been playing around with the new Canola2 Beta6 today, and it's definately moved forward since beta5, the startup time alone is 10x better!

The only REAL problem I'm having is in Music when I have a large album. One of my albums is 300+ tracks (Mixed bag of my faves) which I listen to a fair amount, and trying to find one particular track is a pain in the #@%$ when you have to scroll though the them all using that tiny little tracklist area.

It would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO useful to have a SEARCH option, you could start typing (Hardware keyboard on N810, or software keyboard in 770/N800) the track title and Canola narrowed down the relevant tracks in the list, till you get to the one you want.

Any chance of either adding this in the final release or as an add-on?

try YouAmp, its a very simple design that fits into the OS, but its very intuitive and HAS a search. Its quite good actually. And it only has to scan once, and then it remembres your library. Every time you start it up, it scans, but what it scanned last time remains there and u can search and play as it scans for more.

But I don't want another media player, I'm happy with Canola2 but it just needs the Search option. In the video for the YouTube plugin there's a search option, seemed to work a treat. That facility should be available for music.

Hi guys,

We do want to provide this, please undestand our point that we have those great ideas also first (before releasing canola) because we do use it also the problem is always the same: TIME. It hurts me when I need to kill one feature but the point is :

Seaching depends on the database, we didn't want to change it when the search is being developer to really optimize, and we are finishing the big details to be able to do that.

THIS IS not only quite important for us (search) but we have nice ideas, but we really depend on a great DB and we are finishing the fixes (you guys are seeing the progress)
So don't worry it will come I just need to think the best way for the non-keyboard enabled users: )

- Opposite : we do remember the library : ) we don't " scan it again " we just make a security check to avoid crashes. I don't like (and don't think it's fair to compare because we are working on our daily jobs on this) but we do take things really serious since the beginning with your data, and actually everything that we are trying to avoid is based on IT users complaining in Canola1. Automatic scan is problematic (when it fails), manual scan is problematic (when user want this automatic ) so believe when I say we are trying to come up with the best solution for the both worlds.

We are going to give the option of (faster startup) where we actually don't do the integrity check (this allows to now give you a option, and when you play the file is not there anymore you kwno) then it's up to you to manually re-scan again.

So, I think we have a lot more experience in problems and users wishes since the 770 thats why it takes more time from our side, we are trying to fix real deep problems that you guys showed us

@Opto : we want to do for everything the youtube search is online we want to give you type and narrow search in any list or just : jump to the letter

BR
