Hello, i'm trying to reload os2008. I want to start from scratch due to some problems i'm having with a few applications. Plus i'm sure i've gathered one too many applications and they have left remnants. I'm attempting to use the Nokia Software Updater and it instructs me to hold the "Swap Key" then power the unit on once its connected through USB. I can't seem to find anything in the documentation that states where exactly the swap key is. I have a Nokia N810. Thanks in advance!

The swap key is the home key with the picture of the house on it. At least it is on my N800.

Thanks, i'll give that a shot.

*Edit - Just checked and i don't have a key like that. I have a "Full Screen" key, Zoom keys, a power button, lock button, a back button and a little button with what looks like two white boxes overlapping each other.

I believe the key you're looking for is the application swap key which is the one that looks like two overlapping boxes (left side front, top button).

There isn't.
Check the video at:

Get started--> Get to know keys
I don't know why the h3!! they could not put a diagram of the keys in the guide.
Instead on page 8 they call it the application switcher.
VERY CONFUSING

There is a guide to all the buttons and hardware on the "getting started" leaflet included with the N810. It has a drawing of the N810 with arrows pointing to all the buttons, ports and switches with explanations of what they are.

Alternatively, take a look at the Internet Tablet School's video of how to update the N810 firmware, which shows the N810 swap key being pressed (it's the video labelled "Updating the firmware on the Nokia N810"):

This is totally unintuative and confusing for users. I found this doing a search on the internet and I've worked in IT as a trainer for years.

Anyhow - I've tried to do it and it still doesn't work (and I've had lots of experience with an N770). Maybe I'll have to download the video. If it wasn't for my parents I'd send it back to the shop.

To be honest it's p1ssing me off now. Why would you make a product that can only be used by total geeks (no offence to the people on here)?

I thought my problems with the N770 were all because it was ditched so early by Nokia - now I realise it's just shoddy design and documentation.

PS. How sodding hard would it have been to show the overlapping windows button in the graphic on the update tool!!?

I tried on a different computer and it worked. No idea why.

If you have this trouble and you know what you're doing then I'd suggest trying a different computer.
