Has anyone found an SDHC single slot USB drive that requires no more power than the N810 can offer? (to connect to USB port in host mode)
I have tried four makes so far with no sucess.

BTW I do wonder if it's the LED that draws the most power and if this could be safely removed (and possibly replaced to maintain the balance of the circuit)?

Any thoughts on this?

I have one of the TINY MicroSDHC card readers from DealExtreme. It's this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7106

Just tried it now works a treat, includes the obligatory bl00 LED. The plan was to shimmy a connection to it via the MicroUSB socket using a tiny ribbon cable [so the stand is still finctional] and stick it on the front/back of the N810. It's no wider than the front bezel of the N810 (and only about 3mm thick) so not too much of a problem having it there all the time.

Failing that, solder a normal MicroUSB plug on the end of it and use it directly.

That's a pretty slick solution. I had thought about a ribon cable, like you see on printer carriages (sp?) but from the MiniSD card slot. Using a MiniSD adapter, pulled apart, and the ribon cable soldred on and then terminating to a standard SD card reader, somehow fixed on the back (the guts are relatively slim). This was also to allow the stand to work but enable a standard SD card to be used.

I see the limitation of the MicroSD being current memory size. I believe the MicroSD goes to 8Gb where as the SD is currently 32Gb (which would hold almost all my music collection.)

Thanks for the link though. I have scoured their site often and in fact the two readers that didn't work with the N810 came from them.

Aye - MicroSD has yet to gain on the storage front. I just like it due the the size, the whole thing is smaller than an SD card

I have this feeling that SD will be phased out in preference for a single format (MicroSD in particular) just seems a lot more prevelant these days
