I'm having a problem with my LeafPad and AbiWord Documents. Both were created through the 770. When I double click the files, the 770 tells me for each "Unable to open." But when I open AbiWord/LeafPad and go to File>Open>(browse to filename here) and open them that way, they open fine. It's not a big deal, but is there some way I can make the 770 associate a certain file type with a certain application? For example, on my Windows XP, in the properties of a file, I've made it so all .jpg open with Photoshop and all .doc open with Microsoft Word, etc....etc...

Is it possible to do the same thing on the 770? So I can make the .abw open with AbiWord, etc...etc...? That would be really awesome. Thanks!

I would also be interested in this. I posted the same question a short while back, but received no replies.

The only file I found that seemed to list file associations is

/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.

File associations are usually handled by the desktop environment.

When I try to load that in root, it says Permission denied.

I can view it with vim without root privlidges. It probably is not the "solution" anyway. I think it is just the *cache* of file associations that maemo knows about. Maemo must have a way to add other file extensions and associate with an application. Anybody??
