I looked all over and I couldn't find a port of it, so I did it myself.

I present for your enjoyment:

Rick Dangerous!

This was a popular game in the 80's for Atari and Commodore computers. This port is of a clone written to allow this game to be played on modern computers.

You can get my port from http://www.n8ftl.com/maemo (it is too large to attach to this post), the original clone is available at http://www.bigorno.net/xrick/ along with detailed information.

The game requires about 2Mb for the install but then the data is moved off to MMC2 and only uses about 150kb of space when installed.

Enjoy!

Thanks.
Unfortunaately for some reason I'm not able to install this package.

Installation with the program manager (red pill mode) ends with an "Installation failed..." message. Afterwards the package is installed, but it's listed as "corrupted" in program manager.

Installation via apt-get fails with an "Couldn't find package xrick-021212-2.armel.deb" message.
(I'm running apt-get as root and I have downloaded the package to the directory where I'm running apt-get).

Any idea what might be the problem?

If you are installing a local file you will want: dpkg -i xrick-021212-2.armel.deb

This however won't deal with dependencies if there are any missing. If there are dependency issues you can then try: apt-get -f install

It's not dependencies. dpkg should work but doesn't. The postinstall script fails creating the /media/mmc2/share/xrick directory. (Probably needs to use mkdir -p as it's making 2 directories...)

Until it's fixed, opening xterm and doing-

~ $ mkdir /media/mmc2/share

(then reinstalling)will allow the program to install and run correctly, either from the package manager or from dpkg.

Cheers,

OK the site has the new package on it. should work now (http://www.n8ftl.com/maemo). I have tested it on mine, but I already had the mmc2/share folder (quite a few of the applications I use put stuff there so I neglected to remember it wouldn't be there if you had not installed any of them...) sorry about that...
