I'm a little (ok, actually a lot) confused about the purpose of SSH. Is this something I can use for my n800 to talk to my PC or my Ubuntu laptop? What is the main purpose of SSH?

Apologies for asking such a general question about something that is covered exhaustively in the forums. But I have perused the threads pertaining to SSH, and I'm still not clear about SSH, what it does and how I use it.

I guarantee your kindness to me will be repaid one-googol fold in hacker heaven.

Generally speaking, it's a remote logon system. So you can get a bash prompt on your Ubuntu laptop from the N800, or vice-versa (makes things a lot easier when you can work from a real computer with a real keyboard ).

There's a actually a lot more to it, (scp and sftp would be things to look into—wikipedia, wikipedia, google) but that's the most common use.
