hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone else out there had tried xmame on the n810. It actually saw the touchscreen as a joystick! This device just got a lot cooler...

cheers,
kernelpanic

p.s.- I needed an external keyboard to make the keys work right for the n810. Once the keys were remapped, everything worked great. The touchscreen was an added bonus.

hey kernal,

I've been trying to get xmame to work, but keep getting an error that it cant find the rom.

I had it working with the 'xmaeme' gui addon before the last reflash, but never been able to get it working with out the gui

Can you help me with the command line I need to use to launch a rom ?

I've tried numerous combinations of 'xmame romname -fullscreen -scale 2' etc

And do I need to do anything else ? I read somewhere I need to change a xmame cfg file or something ?

any help would be appreciated.

Command line mame is easy. If your roms are in /media/mmc2/roms you'd do-

~ $ xmame <game name> -rompath /media/mmc2/roms

hope this helps,
kernelpanic

<edit> forgot to mention- /edia/mmc1/roms is hardcoded. So if your roms are there,

~ $ xmame <game-name> will suffice...
</edit>

How did you get the touch screen to work as a joy stick? Which game was it?

I've got xmame to run (and the GUI), but with the N810 that silly key pad is just not going to work with one thumb. Does anyone have a custom config for it or anything?

Games like Star Wars and the like work with the touchscreen. (Although many need the Y axis reversed.)

I used an external keyboard to do the original setup. (Tab key makes things much easier to set up.) xmame will save settings for the program or by game. Basically, play a game a few times and get it set up the way you want. It's persistent.

cheers,
kernelpanic
