Would it be easy for someone to create a .deb for a "glasserwb" theme?
- My eyes love glasser.
- My fingers love echowb.

freakin brilliant. Why don't ALL the IT themes have this scroll bar?

Can someone post a screen shot of the wider scrollbar?

Thanks!

Big debate over wide scroll bars. Some of it is captured in a maemo bug (I forget the number offhand). Maemo direction appears to be more toward alternative methods.

Goes back to something I've been saying/thinking for a while now. Maemo needs to decide whether they are finger-friendly or not. Currently, it's half and half throughout the UI and that has to change.

With finger-friendly, you could still use the stylus, just pushing on bigger buttons. With stylus it's a frustrating nightmare to try to use your finger.

I've been using the wider scrollbar for a few weeks and was justing thinking yesterday how I couldn't do without it -- it's made several programs so much more usable.

Just edit /usr/share/themes/{yourtheme}/gtk-2.0/gtkrc file (as root) and find out these lines:

Code:
GtkRange::stepper_size = 26
GtkRange::slider_width = 22
Replace the 26 with 38 and 22 with 42.

EDIT: On some themes, this may result in duplicate scrollbars . Thats not very nice...

Heres my diff that I took from regular 14pt echo theme and wide scrollbar version (the above numeric changes were there as well):
14pt echo: style "hildon-im-thumb-scv-font"

Wide scrollbar: style "hildon-im-thumb-scv" = "osso-logical-colors"

14pt echo: widget "*osso-im-scv-renderer" style "hildon-im-thumb-scv-fon

Wide scrollbar: widget "*osso-im-scv-renderer" style "hildon-im-thumb-scv"

So just use the wide scrollbar thingies if you get the duplicate scrollbars, I guess.

Benson is too modest. There isn't only a screenshot but his code as to how to get a super-convenient [and ugly] wide-scrollbar Glasser; and also ah.sima's deb for installing a wide-scroll echo theme.

Well, ah.sima's work (in the other thread he linked) precedes mine, and he actually played with images to make something useful,then even packaged it; my snippet, on the other hand, was just a snarky way of pointing people up off their butts in the right direction. I don't think it's 'modest' not to toot my own horn about that.
