Hi everybody,
my question is simple. I want to use claws mail but I don't want the client to download ALL my message headers every time i change folders. I would like it to download only an x amount of "latest" emails. I know "modest", the other mail client offers that, but I can't seem to find that in claws. The problem is that given that I have 9000 emails it takes a.g.e.s before it downloads the headers.

Thanks in advance.

But hopefully it will do it only once, at least with imap, then it will only download the new ones.

I have a imap folder with 11k messages and it takes about 10-15 seconds to change to it and read messages in there. The first time when the cache is empty will of course take much longer.

Hi and thanks for the prompt replies,
well you are right 11k messages should only take a few seconds but only if your mail server is in the LAN you are connected to. I am using google mail which supports IMAP and it is very slow to get emails. It takes about 3-4 mins for my 9,000 headers.

I am thinking of trying POP3 but I am wondering if it would have to download ALL my inbox. I certainly wouldn't want that. I only want my new mails from now on.

Any further input on the IMAP (or POP3)?
thanks again,
theodoros
