Your phone network operator may have some kind of block on the phone being used as a modem for other devices. They do this so they can charge extra for unblocking it.

Try calling the phone network and ask about using your phone as a modem for other devices. They should be able to tell you if they've blocked this feature.

Try using your N91 as a modem for a PC using the USB cable (you may have to install Nokia PC Suite for this to work). If that's slow too, then the problem is definitely nothing to do with the tablet or Bluetooth.

Did you actually mention that you couldn't get your phone to work as a modem?

have you run it on a broadband checker website to see what speed you are getting?

When you surf directly on the phone are you using t-zones? If so, you are using 'wap' which is kwap internet. That was suppose to be a joke. But, if you browse to the same web page on the phone and then the NIT do they perform silimarly and look the same?

On my t-mobile GPRS connection, there is a long 1 to 10 second delay before data starts pooring in and it's the same through my laptop and windows mobile device. The speeds that you are getting are definitely GPS speeds (twice that of dial-up modem). So what you are experiencihng seems normal to me.

Another thought I just realised that you are UK based and should be experiencing 3g speeds. But, a review of your phone says:

The phone packs EDGE and WCDMA (UMTS) 3G on the 2100MHz band with fallback to GPRS when those higher speeds standards aren't available.

Is it possible that because of a configuration setting or glitch, the phone is falling back to GPRS when data is being sent through bluetooth?

when it connects it shows 3g on the phone, could this be a bluetooth limit? is there a wat to use the usb cable between the n800 and n91 ?
