Hi guys.

I was trying to install the KMPlayer Konqeror Plugin and it failed due to missing dependancies. Easy enough, add Debian's download server in KPackage, go to Special -- > APT-DEB ---> Fixup. It wanted to download 200mb worth of data. I let it do so, and in the end, it could not install the packages. Since then, I have reformatted and not bothered with KDE (gave my self time to cool down, heh )

Does anyone know how to avoid all of those extra, unnecessary packages? I have compared the installed files list to the needed files list, and I all I needed is something like 4-5 packages.

On a side note, is it possible to connect the device to a PC after KDE has been installed to transfer files to that same card? I always got a 'card busy' error.

Any help would be very appreciated.

You got all kinds of issues it would appear.

#1 (because its the easiest to answer) When you install KDE via DEB or boot from SD. It is running KDE from the SD card you installed to. So you CANNOT yank its filesystem out while running and hand it to a PC via USB. Is this not intuitive??

As for Kpackage, Use this at your own risk. Although it works fairly well, YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING

KMplayer is very small and should not cause you to download 200MB. Perhaps you should stick to the hildon application manager and you will hopefully avoid such issues.

add Debian's download server in KPackage, go to Special -- > APT-DEB ---> Fixup.

What does this mean, "Debian's download server"

Hello penguinbait, thanks for your time.

1. Makes sense.

2. Instead of following a never ending chain of dependancies, you add Debian's server to KPackage under 'Sources' and it can get the dependancies for you. KMPlayer´s plugin for Konqeror propababy wouldn't install due to the dependancies, and as you know, KDE is a bit of a hassle to install just to test the theory that it would.

Keep in mind that the package in question in compiled for ARMEL, so no issues there.

Thanks for the help.

These packages are from where? I know of no package known to install kmplayer plugin for KDE on IT least not my KDE version. In theory its possible to get things to work if its armel, but just because its armel and is binary compatible, doesnt mean it will work with my KDE version.

http://packages.debian.org/lenny/kmplayer-plugin

This is where the package is located.

KPackage

* Click on the file and that will open Kpackage, click install (twice) and type in the root password when requested.

* A result of "Result=0" means success. "Result=1" means there are uninstalled dependencies. They can be automatically installed in Kpackage by the menu item Special--> Apt-Debian--> Fixup
Thats what I attempted to do.
