Hey itt, I just bought the n800. I didn't like the os2007 so i flashed upto 2008. Problem is it doesnt boot. I've re flashed a couple of times and this is what happens:
I click finish.
I pull out my USB.
-nothing happens on my n800.
So i try to turn it off.
Nothing happens.
It wont turn off.
So i then take out the battery.
Turns on and boots(once)
now i get a bunch of error messages.
I tried to install pigin , didn't work.
Then when i turn off the n800 and turn it back on the desktop keeps on flashing.

So could someone give me detailed instructions on how to install the new os2008.
obviously I'm doing something wrong, and I can't figure it out.

Assuming you are using Windows.

1) Install the Nokia Flashing Software.
2) Plug your n800 into the computer via USB (leave it turned off for now).
3) Run the Nokia Flashing software
4) When it gets to the point where you have to turn on your tablet and hold the home key (follow their directions)
5) Select the firmware image you want to use, and click next and agree to their terms.
6) Let it flash until it tells you to unplug and let the tablet restart

Should work (that's the normal flash routine).

You probably didn't wait long enough. It doesn't look like its rebooting. Just unplug the USB and let it run its course until you get to the setup again.

I upgraded to OS2008 in under 30 minutes, no muss, no fuss.

between the time you unplug the USB and the time that you start to setup again, does the screen go from black to NOKIA to black to NOKIA, and so on? I usually stop it because it keeps on doing that.

Just follow the instructions in the Windows flasher, and to be certain, don't unplug the USB lead until you've clicked "Finish" in the flashing program.

And make sure your N800 is charged, and that the image you're attempting to install is a proper one from Nokia that the flasher downloads, and not something you downloaded yourself (which could be corrupt, or not for your device, etc).
