Is there a wireless network scanner that will work with OS2008

With GUI would be helpful, going on a trip would like to see where open public hotspots are at.

I seen that in a post, but the info was for OS2007 and was not able to locate it on garage for 2008 - is there a 2008 page somewhere?

There's a thread or two around; I think they tell where to get it. I haven't installed it, just know it is around for 2008.

Kismet can be found by googling "kismet_2007.01.R1b-1.0_armel.deb"
or more specifically here http://www.grahamdavies.net/bora_debs/

You will need to install the ncurses-base and libpcap dependencies, but they can be manually installed by adding the "Maemo Chinook" repository.
Details:

http://repository.maemo.org/
chinook | free non-free

You will need to enable red-pill mode to install ncurses-base and libpcap
