I was just surfing around and came across this review for PC World.Ca
http://www.pcworld.ca/news/article/8...1d8c38/pg0.htm

I was taken back by his slack review that I felt compelled to post a response on the review page. I would have written something a little more concise, but I had to get back to work.
This was my post:
I think you my have missed the point of this device a little bit. It is definitely not designed to compete with smart phones or blackberry's (name one phone that has a screen this size?). Maybe a PDA in comparable, but this is an internet tablet. Primarily used for interfacing with the internet!
I have the n800 (same OS) and have never had a problem connecting. No mention of tethering the 810 with a cell phone connection?

"Aside from the mobile browser, which is optimal for blogging, there isn't a whole lot you can do with the N810."

I don't think you really came close to spending enough time with the device or reviewing its capabilities to really qualify a review.

I could go on and highlight the enormously long list of things this n810 can do, but I have a feeling that anyone reading this review probably knows more about this device than than you and moved on quickly. Sorry but a really sloppy review.

It seems to me that the review is precisely suitable for PC World's intended audience. If he had talked more about the 'features' of the device that requires a little more hands-on tinkering than the PC World audience do.. god forbid, we would have a torrent of newbies scouring this board. That's not what the ITT crowd generally wants.. right?

Ah yes. There is positive in almost every negative. This is the irony that drives the universe.

I don't think the tablets DO require any tinkering at all! :-) I mean, you can if you want, but IMHO they're just as easy to use straight out of the box without any alteration. If all you want is stuff like the web and Skype, the tablets are a much easier and more convenient option than a PC.

In fact, that's how the Internet Tablet School began:

The first two replies took the words out of my mouth.
I haven't read a tech mag since X86 PCs had a turbo button and "640K should be enough for anyone".

Wow, what kinda people do they get to write reviews ? What are their credentials ?

*headshake*

My grandma would've reviewed a N810 better.

What a 0.5-assed review indeed. I added my 2¢ as well.

Ha! This was great. I just revisited the review and saw another 4 or 5 posts following up with some great scathing (but also valid) comments about his review. I hope this guy gets reprimanded for his unprofessional review.

Kerr, from Coimbra

exactly.

I have no problems with people that review the unit unfavorably... but I just can't stand contradictory reviews. Ignoring the obvious errors ( needs wifi to work, browser only good for blogging, ... ) it's schizophrenic since it keeps waffling back and forth about it.

Oh, it's also obvious that the reviewer has never tried to do any of those things, especially surf, on a blackberry device.
