uh... you can use nonoh.net or jajah.com - although if you are in the USA they wont be free because it will call your mobile - they offer free callback services to select countries some landlines only others including mobiles (p.s. what is with paying for incoming calls in the US?? don't you people get sick of paying for telemarketers and wrong numbers??)

The Nokia comes with a Generic SIP client. There are several SIP providers that have near free plans. (Basically, you get x00 free minutes every time you recharge your account. Since you have to recharge your account, it's not really free, but you only start using your credits after you used up your free minutes).

Here's one company, but there are many more (all run by the same corporating with different country lists. And they keep on changing them, so you got to be a little bit careful if the "free" country is still free):

So I guess there really is no "free" service at all (excluding your internet bill)

How about Gizmo with Grandcentral ?
Grandcentral dials the landline/cell you want to call and you. so you get a pc-call @ your gizmo (which are free) and on the other end is the person you wanted to call.
Read up the threads about Grandcentral here and decide if it is what you wanted.
I got free in/outgoing calls on my N800 with my own phone number that even fits my area code (u.s.).

Freecall gives you 1 minute free landline calls in the uk without topup. Sipgate gives you a free UK landline number to receive calls.

Don't know/care about anywhere else.
