I'm kind of surprised at the location of the power plug on the N800. Don't like the looks of it with the power cable jutting out the side.

I'm surprised that Nokia did not add a bottom connection and produce some kind of cradle so that the unit could be easily docked to the PC and also charge. Or at least put the power connector on the back of the unit.

In any case, is anyone aware of any kind of right-angle adapter for the power cable so that it's not quite as noticeable when plugged in?

Something like this, but for the Nokia's connector:

Thanks!

Ya, this would b great to find. I hope you find something. This power jack thing is one of my few nitpicks about the N800. Way too fragile. To those that don't think so, you will when yours gets too loose. I probably won't buy another Nokia unless this is fixed.

Any idea what the Nokia's power connector is called? If it's something industry standard, maybe someone makes a right-angle adapter...

Surprised? We had it with the 770. It sucked *** and everybody *****ed about it. I'll stick with the built-in stand and port positions that don't get in the way of everything, thanks.

I would rather enjoy a cradle with the next gen tablet. One that is sleek and has power and USB hookups. Maybe some VGA output and extra USB ports, too

But, only as an extra option. Being able to use the old charging cable and USB cords should definitely be kept.

Cradles are OK, but you can make a sideways-docking dock that'll work fine... And that'll be more amenable to picking up the tablet and working with it.

Oh, and General: don't forget the USB port does get in the way of the stand... but it could be a lot worse; I think I recall someone suggesting moving the headphone and/or USB to the left end.

I know they had to shrink things on the N810, but if you only had to fit in the N800's form factor, you could put in a micro B, and notch the kickstand. And a dust-cover, I guess...

No, maybe it's not that bad after all.

Perhaps I should be more clear. The side power connection can stay (though a right-angle plug would be nice). I'd like them to ADD a connection on the bottom of the unit so it can be docked into a cradle. The cradle would connect to the PC and power, and the Nokia would simply plop into the cradle for easy PC hookup & charging. Similar to Palm Treos and other tablet devices.

Yeah, but you know if Nokia were to add such a cradle as an accessory, they wouldn't add the side-dock. (And I want the side-dock so I can pick the tablet up and work on it without breaking any connections. I know, I should go make one, then...)

It's hard to imagine them even adding those connections and not axing the existing ones to "save space"; trying to be as small as an iPhone is just too alluring to corporate decision-making types...

well, I'm not familiar with the cradle idea, maybe that can work. This idea is probably overkill, but I suppose we could have more than one kind of power port in these things. You know, like what we have now plus a mini usb port that would be just for power.

Although hopefully the n8xx will evolve to the point where the miniusb will simply be capable of switching between enabled data and power or both at once.

But it appears mostly what you are hoping for right now is a 90 degree power adapter. Wish I could help with that. In this huge high tech market, I would think someone would have something like that.

What is this side-dock people are mentioning? Is this a legit product being released?
