First thing first. Latest version of upnp plugin is the first version that actually works with MythTV for me. I know some of the Canola team don't support MythTV but there are quite a few of us using MythTV as our media server. And I know that MythTV's implementation of upnp is not that great, I haven't been able to use it with any other player. On the other hand, I was kind of disheartened with some of the comments from the team, but I don't blame them. Their software is free after all.
After a brief test here are couple of quick observations:
Music plays fine, however large music collection takes time to load. On the positive side lists comes up immediately and is updated in the background.
The mpeg2 SD recordings cannot play reasonably well as is. So what I did is quickly trascoded couple using ffmpeg with -target vcd. The results played wonderfully on my N800 over wireless.
Only mpeg2 video files show up available for me. No avi files!
All in all, I think I can finally have transparent and automated process to watch my recordings on N800 with help of Canola!
Don't give up on MythTV please, and thanks for awesome work!
