Many PalmOS applications allow the user to hide the Grafitti handwriting input panels and increase the display area from 320x320 square to 480x320 rectangle. Look for the arrow at the bottom of GVM display, to the right of the magnifying glass icon, to see if the current application supports this feature.

GoogleMaps was written for the Treo, displays only 320x320 square. However you can install a utility called Codediver which will force it to display 480x320. Codediver is originally written in Japanese and the English user interface is sometimes unitutive and the documentation is difficult, but I used a version for several years on Sony Clie UX50 Palm OS PDA and it is stable.

http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/p...11Beta10eg.zip

2. Extract two files...
CodeDiverEng.prc (English language Palm executable)
Readme_eng.txt (English language documentation)

3. Install CodeDiverEng.prc in GVM

4. Start GVM and tap CodeDiver icon

5. Tap [Add]

6. Choose: AppName GoogleMaps

7. Tap VirtualSilk to view Virtual Silk page
Make only two changes to default settings...
8. SizeChg: Force
9. Started: Long
10. Tap [OK] to exit Virtual Silk

11. Tap [OK] to exit Item edit page

12. Tap [On] to activate CodeDiver

13. Tap Home to return to GVM home page

14. Tap Google Maps and it should use entire GVM display.

If you launch GVM by double tapping the GoogleMaps icon (or by selecting GoogleMaps and using the [Launch] button) it will display 320x320 as before. You must launch GVM with another application to allow CodeDiver to be running at the time GoogleMaps is started.
