I have been trying to watch the Russia Today live stream from their website on my N810 but unlike the one from the BBC News site, this one seems to stop and stutter every minute or so.

Can anyone explain / help me overcome this

Look at this thread to watch internet tv includin many Russian channels:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19765

Mplayer plays Russia Today better than Media Player.
I use kmplayer and the channel list or you can call mplayer
directly from X terminal:

mplayer mms://wms.visionip.tv/RT

I downloaded and tried this suggested app but the quality is worse than the default player with stuttering more frequent.

Do you have anything else to suggest and remember I'm not yet fluent in the technobabble that goes with this site so simple is good :-)

What system you are running? and what version of mplayer you are running? It would be helpful to upgrade your system to the latest OS, 2.2007.51-3 and the latest mplayer, which is mplayer.27. .26 and .24 are NOT as good as .27.
Try Videocenter too, I just upload a brand new version primary3.db, hope you like it.

I tried Videocentre and it would not start the steam. I tried the other players listed here too and they won't play it. Only the default player seems to load the steam but stops and starts all the time as if it's running out of RAM or caching each minute as it goes.

As for versions, I am using OS2008 2.2007.51-3.

This is bugging me big time now :-(

How can it be so hard?

Okay. Close to giving up on this one and declaring the tablet generally useless. I can't stream from iPlayer, can't stream from Russia Today and the battery only lasts half a day before dying whether in use or not. Should have saved the money I think. :-(

I just noticed no one asked how fast is the connection your are trying this on. That might have something todo with it.

I use a 2Mb wireless network with a Cable connection at home. I have also tried with a 2Mb SDSL service at work and a fast wireless connection (speed unknown) at the cinema/cafe in Bristol. But even with that how could the battery drain so fast. It's a waste of energy to leave the thing plugged in all the time but without doing so the thing drains quicker than water down the plughole.

something you are running must be draining battery. I keep mine running all the time and when not in use it last days. The only time I have ever had it die in middle of a day was after 6 hours of GPS and web surfing over bluetooth with cell phone.

I have the weather applet set to update every 24 hours and that's all. That can't drain power can it at that schedule?

Anyway, that doesn't solve the main problem. Why can't I get this device to stream this website properly? How can I adjust the settings somehow to cache more and/or stop the pauses when playing this stream?
