I really don't want to have to shell out for a laptop.

+1 on Xournal, as that's what I use.

Depends on your style, of course; maemopad+ looked cool to me, but seemed semi-finished feature-wise (lack of editing capabilities) when I tried it almost a year ago. Probably worth a shot now.

Lcuk's got a demo out for his high-performance graphics library, which has an interesting note-jotting mode; I haven't had the chance to try it yet.

I've heard of a guy on campus here who takes a laptop to class, and types all his notes up live in LaTeX; the N800 would do awesomely at that, but it depends on mad TeX skillz, which I haven't...

I'll try Abiword amd Xournal.

How do I print with them, though.

Xournal can export to pdf, and you can print them from a computer, or directly via web interface on many network printers. You could also run Xournal on a PC, of course, and print there. I don't think it has any print support in the tablet version...

Dunno about abiword.

I would send my notes to my desktop computer and print from it. If you don't have access to a desktop computer, have fun!

the notes app that comes with the tablet is broken in diablo, it doesn't make paragraph marks. it has a bullet function though, and is html based.

abiword is great if you have an n810 or an n800+bt keyboard

xournal is probably your best bet. you can move text/graphics around, make scribbles and export to pdf.
