it occurs to me that the on-screen qwerty keyboard on the n800 could be made easier to use if it were full-screen, and if it were alpha blended you could still see what was underneath!

is this insane or inspired?

Insane. Unfortunately applications can't be made transparent (at least now ).

OS2007 only... (And only an xterm, but lots of discussion about keyboards in general...)

when i have tried putting a partially transparent window on top of another before, i always end up having to tune the blending so low to read the front most stuff, that i end up with the background being unreadable...

I think there are good way around that, like having the font outlined with a different color or making the background less translucent closer to the characters.

A keyboard like that could be designed with multiple layouts to space the characters out more. Like a full keyboard, alpha, numpad, etc, with the modes faded out around the current one (eg by default you have alpha, and click a faded box to the right to access the numpad). Blah, I'll stop trying to explain what's in my head, but I support the option of a translucent keyboard

I think everyone supports the option, though some have expressed scepticism that it would be a good full replacement in other discussions of this...

It wasn't really transparent, but worked well enough. Any developers interested in "porting" it to Diablo? You would certainly get my thanks! (no really, you would).

Craig...

Put a question mark at the end of your thread titles if you aren't announcing! Arrrgh
