I am typically a nutcase for all things google. I'm sure many people can agree with the level of cheerleadery I show for them and their "cloud apps".

That being said, android looks great, attractive, sleek -- but kinda limp?!

It strikes me as losing momentum and dare I even say it doesn't have the same kind of developer interest mounting as maemo/ume/hildon...

This may be another circumstance where FOSS wins out, even against a benevolant software maker.

Thoughts? Perhaps people can steer me to a more accurate impression of android. At this point I'm kind of feeling more fond of maemo.

My N810 arrives in three to four days! I'm just soaking up as much as I can before it arrives. VERY excited.

Each platform has it's problems

If Google lands a fraction of the handsets they are shooting for Android will bring to the table a huge installed base, this alone will make it a force to be reckoned with. Like the iPhone, Android will have the backing and funds to do the hard work that often gets pushed off in a linux/FOSS environment.

That being said we use what is available TODAY and that's the n810 for now. Ask me again when my n810 breaks and you might get a completely different story.
